Pardon me but I’m having a Ferragamo moment…..

Damn you Moda Operandi!

It’s been sheer madness at work the last few months and all the blood, sweat and tears has been leading up to the big day tomorrow – the opening day of our inaugural Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Singapore!

Instead of getting dressed up and heading to one of the clubs this Halloween, why not come down to Universal Studios Singapore and experience Singapore’s most terrifying event?

Feel what it’s like to be trapped in a horror film as you run for your life in a Carn-EVIL of crazed clowns. Step into the haunted Peranakan house where you face the Vengeance of the Matriarch as the demented Nyonya stirs her bubbling brew of black magic. Mutated zombies roam around in a Post-Apocalyptic Rage, ravenous and starving for human flesh and blood. An awful curse has befallen tormented inhabitants who are now infected by a foul toxic plague in Pestilence. Can you escape the insane clutches of the Mad Scientist as he stalks unsuspecting victims in The Void to dismember them and fasten on hideous artificial limbs? Shrivel in fear when you flee to The Edge of Darkness from hordes of rampaging mummies and mindless demons seeking fresh souls!

I went to the media preview on Monday night and even though I’d walked the scare zones and haunted Peranakan mansion a gazillion times over in the day, it was a whole different ball game once the lights went out, the scare-actors were in place and the fog machines came on. I screamed so loudly I think I scared some of the scare-actors themselves.

For a sneak peek at what you can expect, check out the commercial I worked on together with the amazing peeps from Momentum and Ogilvy:

Another good reason to go is the fact that some of our best rides like Battlestar Galactica HUMAN vs. CYLON & Revenge Of The Mummy will be open all night!

And if Halloween to you isn’t complete without some boozin’ & boogie-ing, we’ve got that covered too. You’ll be happy to know that alcohol will be sold and our favourite DJ duo – The Cereal Killers will be serving up some wicked tunes at our club zone, 44Sins in Ancient Egypt.

Tickets are priced at $60 per person and the event runs from 8pm til 12midnight. Tickets are fast selling out so click here to purchase yours today!

If you’re a student, bring your student ID to the Universal Studios Singapore ticketing booths and enjoy a special student rate of $45.

See you kids there!

R.I.P

Is the cup half empty or is the cup half full?
Does the sun rise at dawn or does the earth just spin along?
Or is it all perspective on how we see the world?
How many countless life forms are on a little ball that twirls?
Are we intrinsically separate beings? Or could we possibly be parts of the same thing?
Water feeds the plants and the sunshine makes them grow So how can anyone be an island on their own?
Does life make me happy or does it bring me down?
Do I have what I need or do I just want what’s around?
Am I seeing truth or do I just see wool?
Well, is the cup half empty or is the cup half full?

This is me waving the white flag ya’ll – I surrender! There’s absolutely no. way. in. hell I can answer 685 questions and frankly speaking I’m a tad tired.

Who knew there were so many bossy, demanding, indignant people out there who feel as if they are entitled to flood me with a barrage of intrusive questions and then scoff at my answers like they know better how I ought to live my life.

So there.

5921 answers later – I’m done with Formspring.

If you’re absolutely dying to ask me something or other, this wordpress is where imma be at.

Note to self : NEVER drink the Bloody Mary shots at WR ever again. Vodka shots chased with cherry tomatoes soaked in Tobasco sauce are no fun at all.

At the Louis Vuitton Island Maison opening two weeks ago

Due to my inherent clumsiness, I’ve been thinking that I ought to stay away from wearing sky high heels on my big day so as to avoid any embarrassing situations – like me tripping and falling flat on my face while walking down the aisle.

Given my track record with klutziness, the probability of that turning into a reality is in the “very high” region, so my footwear of choice is going to be “very low”. And as it turns out, Miu Miu has somehow read my mind because these new glitter + embellished sneakers are PERFECT and exactly what I was dreaming of.

The colour-way I’m most inclined to is the gold glitter one. Perfect for getting me to the altar safe and for dancing the night away! I might even be able to pull off pairing them with my Cheongsam if I’m lucky!

Here’s hoping I manage to find the one that’s capped with blingers on the toe-cap as opposed to the second picture with the studs. Note to Dorothy and her red ruby slippers – Move over ladies, there’s a new kid in town!

My boyfriend has a knack for stumbling across the most intriguing things on the internet and tonight he has brought to my attention the following two.

So blown was my mind by the sheer GENIUS of which they both embodied that had to share them with all of you who actually read this space. (For all I know, my audience might consist of a couple of ants and some old ladies in Poland. Oh wait – Hi Andrea! )

MIND BLOWING REVELATION  #1 – How to Peel a Head of Garlic in Less Than 10 Seconds.

Who likes peeling garlic? I know I don’t. It’s time consuming, the skin is hard to get off, bits get stuck under your finger nails and if you use a knife you sometimes end up shaving off way more than just the skin which leaves with you pathetic little bits of garlic that’s hardly worth the amount of time you just wasted peeling it. Let’s not forget how hard it is too wash off the smell of garlic from your skin/nails too. I can ward off Vampires with my manicure after I’m done with a head or two and it really, really irks me out.

Which is why my jaw totally dropped to the floor after watching this video:

MIND BLOWING REVELATION #2 – Make EVERYTHING & ANYTHING Better with SUGRU

SUGRU is like modeling clay when you take it from its pack. Once it’s exposed to air, it cures to a tough flexible silicone – Think of it as pimped out blu-tack that hardens into place but yet is flexible rather than rigid. Whatever would you use it for? Honestly, the possibilities are endless!

For example – My brother had a pet Guinea Pig a couple of years back and the happy little rodent happily chewed through the outer rubber casing of my Macbook charger once night when I was asleep. The charger still works but the exposed bits of wire inside zap me all that time and that’s not a pleasant experience I can assure you. I’ve tried taping it up with masking tape & duct tape too but they don’t seem very hardy and they’re also very unsightly. Now if I had me some Sugru…

Use it to plump pliers, add tactile grips to kitchen utensils, fix cracked and broken toys, repair flexible things such as cables and leaky trainers, give iPhones protective ‘shock bumpers’ and even customize handlebars and gear levers. Like I said, the possibilities are truly endless.

And just like playdoh, all you need to do is combine the different colours to get Sugru in any shade of the rainbow!

I’m pretty darn sure it can fix almost ALL the broken jewelery I have in my drawer and mend all the wonky shoes I have too. In fact, the first thing I’m going to try and hack is my silicone Ek Throngprasert necklace that snapped 2 months ago.

So go on kids, instead of throwing your broken items or things that just don’t work away, get hackin’ with SUGRU!

Tom Binns’ current collection of neon painted Swarovski crystals & safety pins with pearls is beyond extraordinary.

I know Neons are supposedly out next season and it’s all about sherbet hues come Spring (see image below for ref.) but I for one do not care about what is “in this season” nor do I particularly fancy looking like I share a wardrobe with Sandra Dee from Grease, pre black leather makeover.

And since we’re on the topic of hues (well, sort of at least) – earlier today, Derek introduced a nail polish brand to me that is 100% non toxic.

Scotch Naturals nail polish is a safe and eco-friendly alternative to conventional polish. Their revolutionary water-based formula delivers long lasting, salon-quality results in a stunning array of sophisticated shades.

Their polishes contain none of the chemicals found in typical nail polish. They are free of ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, nitrocellulose, acetone, and any heavy metals – making them truly non-toxic.

This is especially great for people who have tendency to leave their nail polish on for extended periods of time (me) and who are worried about damaging their nails and cuticles. The chemicals used in conventional nail polished cause your nails to weaken over time and it also leads to discolouration. I don’t know about you but I find yellowed nails really unsightly so to camouflage that,  I have no choice but to carry on keeping my nails painted which just exacerbates the problem. Finally – a solution to that in the form of these non toxic polishes!

There are 26 colours to choose from and you can check out their full spectrum of shades here . My favourites are Heather Blush, Ceasefire, Hot Toddy and Stone Fence.

For more information on Scotch Naturals as well as their kid friendly nail polish, Hopscotch, visit their website here or check them out on Facebook.

nailed it.

I only very recently made my first foray into the world of online shopping. For years I had resisted and scoffed at the idea. Why shop online? Where’s the instant gratification? Don’t you need to try clothes on before you decide whether or not they suit you?  Trust me – I had an endless list of reasons why shopping online just wasn’t for me.

However, In the last year or so, I’ve come to realise that the best thing about shopping on the world wide web is that well, you options are literally limitless. Why be confined to only buying brands available in Singapore when you can scour the earth (dramatic I know) for buys from every other continent out there??

Kate Spade shoe I lusted for while shopping in New York but couldn’t find in my size and that’s retailing for waaaay too much here in Singapore? 5 mins of searching online found the solution to that problem and with a few clicks, said shoe was all mine and on its way to my loving arms.

Couldn’t find any iPad cases worth throwing money at here in Singapore (this was when the iPad was first launched & pretty cases were harder to come by)? Dodo Cases ship internationally! Click, click! Another problem solved.

So when I saw the DANNIJO collection being paraded around on Miss Manrepeller’s blog, I knew that it was going to lead to another glorious online purchase. And before your could say buyer’s remorse, Lindsay baby here was one step closer to being paraded on my wrist.

And we both lived happily ever after…………..right?

WRONG.

It’s been a month now since I bought the bracelet online and there’s still no sign of it. I checked the online tracking status and apparently this item had been shipped out on the 22nd of last month.

What gives guys?? Like an over anxious mother, I am more concerned at this point of time than anything else – Did Lindsay here take a detour at Chateau Marmont? Did my baby get arrested on another DUI? Where is my bracelet?!

I’ve sent numerous emails to DANNIJO, politely enquiring as to the whereabouts of my lost kiddo, but apparently they are “experiencing some backlog due to a high volume of emails this week (did they lose other wayard pieces of jewelery too?)” and will respond to my email as quickly as possible.

Boooo….

I guess this is part and parcel of “the joys of online shopping” eh? Maybe I should give Sam Ronson a call.

Sleepless in Seletar Hills

**UPDATE: My Lindsay has been found! She somehow made her way back to sender so the DANNIJO peeps are gonna send her right back over to me. Yay!

P/S Can anybody tell me how I can get my hands on this Proenza Schouler necklace??

Hopped over to Bangkok the weekend before with my mother. The last time I went on a holiday with just her was when I was 7 and she took me to Amsterdam to show me the Tulips in summer. That was 21 years ago and I wonder why we never thought to take off on our own again, “Just us girls”, as she put it.

The idea behind this short getaway was for us to spend some girlie, quality time together – her little treat before next year’s nuptials. As it is, I’ve not been living with my family for almost 2 years already. And though I do go back at least once or twice a week for dinner, the time I get to spend with my mom one on one is few and far between. So off to Bangkok we did go and I think it’s safe to say that I put on at least a couple of kg in the 2 days that I was there because all we did was eat, eat, eat and eat.

I’m not very good with taking photos when I’m on holiday, because I’m usually too caught up taking in the sights and sounds (and in this case – the food too), so here’s a handful of snaps I managed to capture during my weekend with Mommy.

My Yoga membership renewal could not have come at a better time.
